2001: A House Odyssey

January 27,2001

We had the home inspection. There were four issues raised, all minor. The homeowner provided satisfactory explanations for all four issues, so we are moving ahead with the purchase.

Next step is to sign off on some paperwork removing the inspection contingency from the purchase contract.

Jeannie took a few more pictures of the house on the 24th, while the inspector was there. Take a look.

January 23, 2001

Many of you reading this may know that Jeannie and I have been looking for a house. It looks as if we may have finally found one that is going to work out for us.

We made on offer last night, January 22, 2001. The seller rejected our initial and subsequent offer and made some counter-offers. Our third offer was accepted.

Plans are to move forward with an inspection on Wednesday January 24th and close on February 23rd. Of course with any transaction like this it could still fall through but it all looks pretty good.

I took some pictures off of the realtors web site for your viewing pleasure. They really don't do the house justice in my mind but you can at least take a look.

The relevant statistics. The house was built in 1998, and is located in the north metro community of Lino Lakes. It has four bedrooms, three up, and one on the main floor. It has three full baths, two up and one down. It has a large kitchen with great cabinets. The range is also extra nice since it has a gas top with downdraft ventilation with a electric convection oven. There are solid six panel doors throughout the house. There is a gas fireplace in the family room. The basement is roughed in, and insulated but unfinished.(That should give Tim something constructive to do!) It is a three car garage with room for a pad outside for Barb and Jim to park the fifth wheel. The lot itself is pretty good sized, 300+ X 100+, although irregular.

We will need to do a bit of painting when we move for fashion sake, but it is ready to occupy.

The house is right inside of an "L" shaped corner. You can see the three car garage out front.

This is a little better angle. I like the way the entrance is at an angle.

This is the family room It is part of a great room, where the kitchen, dining room and family room are all connected.

Here is a shot of the kitchen, which is really fabulous. It is large with lots of cabinets and a huge center island.

This was taken near the entrance to the house showing the formal living room area. You can see part of the stairs leading up to the three bedrooms that are upstairs. I think I will have to paint this room A.S.A.P. If you look closely you'll not the clock you see on the left is the same clock from the kitchen. We have asked the current owners if they would part with this clock.
A shot of the back yard. As you can see there is a pond back there with trees behind.
