Amazon news

Amazon let's you search through the text of a book now instead of just the title/subject. It's shocking to me that they either scanned so many books or got electonic acess to the text. Now if they just had a link where I could reserve the book at my local library I would be set. Perhaps that would be a bit of a money loser. "Ramsey County Library has eight copies available for free, click here to reserve yours."

Ah, but there's a handy bookmarklet out there that I've added to my linkbar, and, when at an Amazon page, it automatically checks my local library for holdings! Only works with certain flavors of catalog; works for Sac and it's pretty swell. I'll look it up later and post it here.

I read about the development on MetaFilter early today, and, I must say, it's not something I'd ever have expected. But nice! Now when kids come to the desk and say "What's that book, you know, the one with so-and-so in it about such-and-such?" I have some chance of finding it.

Nice colors, btw!

Here it is: Library Lookup. Handy-dandy.
