I like to watch an afternoon matinee while the kids are sleeping on Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Sometimes this leads me to choose movies based on show time rather than artistic considerations.
Today the movie was "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason". Nothing I had read made me think I would like this movie. But given my limited choices it didn't seem like it could be that awful.
The move was indeed awful. Here is a list of some of the more annoying things about the movie.
-
The main character talking and looking at the audience.
Cutesy graphics during the movie.
A plot that with absolutely no surprise.
Hugh Grant, need I say more.
Women in the audience gasping when Hugh Grant kissed Renée Zellweger.
A sound track which was so sappy I was in utter disbelief.
An annoying heroine.
Unbelievable supporting characters.

Ummm....sweetie.....I really hate to swear, but I think I f*cking well told you so.
Now I will go and atone for this little outburst with a worthy blog post:)

I'm often a sucker for some sap, but even the TV spots were enough to turn me off this one.
Or... it may have been seeing the first movie. Yes, that probably had a bit to do with it.
Or... it may be my ever-growing aversion to all Reneewhatzer-name's constant whining about having to gain "all that weight" for the role. Ugh...
If you knew going into it that you weren't going to like it, why the hell would you go? I'm just saying... sounds like a waste of money and time to me. Did someone chain you to your chair? I've never understood a person who sits through an entire movie and hates the whole thing (meaning I need an explanation for my own behavior, as well). I did the same damn thing through that atrocious Cameron Diaz movie - The Sweetest Thing. OMG. The Biggest Waste of Money should have been the title. But I felt like my ass was glued to the chair.
