Recently, I bought the book "Cider House Rules" written by John Irving at Half Price books. John Irving is the author of one of my all time favorite books, "A Prayer for Owen Meany." The "Cider House Rules" came with this charming inscription in the front of the book.
For those of you who find the hand writing difficult to decipher, it says "Started reading - Not a Christian Book don't read".
Why is it that I want to read the book more now?
Perhaps this blog should have the same warning ...

it's sad to me when someone will not associate with something that is not blatantly christian. there is so much to learn out there and we limit ourselves tremendously if we limit our sources. yes, that means that sometimes we will read books by non-christians and listen to speakers who don't know the lord. and we won't be worse for reading it. and we won't go to hell for it either. there is something to learn from everybody. but learning from someone does not mean that we automatically take on their entire belief system.
i think my comment is longer than your blog... sorry.
(steps down from soapbox)
i just thought of this, too... if the previous owner thought that no one should read it, why did she (or he) sell it? it would have been more effective to throw it away.
I still have your copy of a Prayer for Owen Meany. I'll make sure to write something in the cover before I return it.

I don't know but it makes me want to also.
