I spent last week in Brussels. While most of my week was spent working, with very little oppourtunity for tourism other than checking out local restaurants, I spent Saturday in the picturesque town of Brugge.
I haven't been to Europe since I was five. My memories of Germany are vague at best. Walking around the Netherlands & Belgium brought a lot of memories back. The architecture, the cobblestones, the windy streets all seemed more familiar than they should have.
The strongest & strangest memory was the tangible sense of fear that I must have felt as a child about falling off the steps leading up to the trail and getting stuck between the platform and the train. Every time I boarded or exited a train, I had the sense of doing the same thing as a small child. I'll check with mom and see if there is a reason for this "memory."

A few weeks ago in the U.S. I had the yearly pleasure of losing an hour of sleep due to the switch to daylight saving time, which I would like to point out doesn't save any daylight.
Well what do you suppose happens to me tonight? I lose another hour of sleep. I'm in Europe at the moment and I get to celebrate daylight savings time yet again.
Who can I talk to about getting the two hours back in the fall?
I took Elise cross country skiing for the first time the Saturday after our recent snowstorm. She did really well. It brought back memories of my first skiing expedition in fifth or sixth grade with my friend Jennie. Elise had the same problem I had when I was 9 which was slipping backwards on the hills.
The trails were perfect and the sky was a very deep blue -- I wish we had deep snow and clear days more often during the winter.
It's a great day to work at home. We are expected to get another 10 + inches of snow tonight.
